25.08.09 -TIME TO GET ON THE RIGHT BUS!
After years of problems faced by Cardiff Institute for the Blind (CIB) members using buses in Cardiff, it was great news that CIB Consumer Group was given the opportunity to meet with Cardiff Bus at their brand new headquarters in Sloper Road to discuss these issues.
The aim of the meeting, which included a hands-on tour of the latest buses, was to address serious concerns over the service received, and to discuss a positive way of moving forward to resolve them. Cardiff Bus opened its doors to CIB in a spirit of co-operation welcomed by Carys Henry, Head of Services at the CIB.
Carys said: “This is an important first step and there is a long way to go, including better signage, visual awareness training for drivers and the need for onboard audio announcements. We are keen for Cardiff Bus to keep this momentum up, these improvements are long overdue.”
Cardiff Bus Service Delivery Manager Simon Mohamed said: “It is crucial to Cardiff Bus that all its customers feel comfortable and at ease when using our service and this visit was the latest step in engaging with the CIB to see where improvements can be made in the future.”
